The girl who awoke with many questions.

“Oh God, you alright?” Madeline was shocked. “I have no room to say anything, I’m running 87.3 myself. I think average is 98.6. I’m an ice cube.” Both girls laughed. “That hospital does stink, though. Have you met anyone else besides us?” she asked, hoping there were others. Though she was content with Ben, and now Vivian and Lyra, she hoped that there would be more of them to awaken. She had seen the people asleep in the various halls, and wanted to know if they would ever wake. This must be how Ben felt, though he was alone, she thought to herself. She took a moment to think about this, coming to the conclusion that she was terrified of being alone. Absolutely terrified.

“Yes, I am completely okay.” she paused “Isn’t it funny that I could be dying by fever and you are as cold as… a corpse?” Lyra laughed, she hope this girl had sense of humor and wouldn’t take her comment in a bad way. “You two are the first patients I’ve seen since I woke up. They really didn’t let me take a peek out of my room before.. well, not like they left me today.” she laughed again. She was having a good time ever since a few days ago, and then the thought of the nurses looking for them hit her again. Let’s hope they don’t lock us in our rooms after this.

The girl who awoke with many questions.

“I’m Madeline,” she said, smiling. “What kind of fever? Do you feel sick at all? You know what’s really weird? They tell me that I am too cold. Below the “normal human natural temperature,” or some bullshit like that. I feel fine. Not that kind of sick, anyway. It’s just my muscles and bones don’t feel like moving, cooperating, or doing whatever I want them to.” She was shocked she just rambled off all sorts of information to this new girl, but she was starting not to care. The sunshine on her skin made her feel alive, and she was enjoying every minute of it. “I feel like I can actually breathe out here. It’s marvelous!

Lyra just sat there listening to everything this girl was saying. She likes to talk, I see. I like her.
“I’m gonna call you Maddy.” she said with a smile “And yes, Maddy, I feel just completely fine. Ryan, the nurse don’t know if you know him, said that I had 110 degrees, I don’t really know but I feel just fine!” she said and right after took a deep breath “I was getting tired of that smell the hospital has.”

The girl who awoke with many questions.

“I’ve been awake for a week or so… I remember when you woke up,” Madeline said, tentatively. She watched the girl for a moment, before going back to the the pond. “It’s so wonderful to be out here. I wonder how long it will take before a nurse comes out here and chews our asses out…” She let out a big, hearty laugh. “It’s worth it, though. What are they going to do to us, anyway?”

“Yeah, I saw you passing by room.” she said looking at her “And I bet they’re going to come really soon. One of them must be looking desperately for me right now. I got a little bit of fever, so he went to call Dr. Peters and I took the opportunity to get out..” Lyra said while touching the grass “What’s your name, though?” the dark-haired girl hadn’t tell her yet, and now that she found someone else to talk, she had to know.

The girl who awoke with many questions.

damagesvivian:

Vivian listened to the girl and breathed out a sigh or relief she hadn’t known she had been holding when the girl told them she wasn’t a nurse. She walked over to the girl and gestured for her to join them in the grass. ”I’m Vivian, at least that’s what was on my chart. How long have you been up?” She asked intrigued by the girl with the bright red hair.

She sat next to the dark haired girl, who she remembered seeing before.
Being outside for the first time since she woke up felt so good. She could feel the warmth of the sunlight on her skin, and her blood was like boiling because of this feeling. Though her blood felt like that, it wasn’t an uncomfortable sensation.
“I’ve been awake for a couple of days” she made this weird gesture like if she’d rather be asleep still though “What about you two?”

The girl who awoke with many questions.

“I’m not sure, this just feels wonderful,” she giggled to Madeline. Smiling into the warm sun she continued, “I think I used to go outside a lot before…this.” She replied slowly.

Vivian slowly walked over to some of the trees next to Madeline. She felt like there was a force that she couldn’t see pulling her over to them. When she reached them she placed her hand on the bark and shut her eyes. She felt a warm safe feeling rush into her and she sighed.

“Be careful!” Madeline called, still chuckling to herself. She turned to look at the frogs jumping across the lily pads when she saw something, or rather, someone running towards the two of them. Her first impression was that it was a nurse, and her heart leaped into her throat. She then saw the papery hospital gown flowing behind her, and she realized it was Lyra. She had only seen her once before, in passing, and awkward eye contact was made, but she didn’t seem like a threat. The girl barreled toward them, a wild expression in her eyes, and her fiery red hair billowing in the wind.

When Lyra finally reached them she noticed that both of the girls looked a little disturbed by her presence.
“I’m not a nurse, if you were wondering.” she said to win a little bit of their trust. Surely if they have been there for more than a day they would hate the nurses just as much as she did. “I’m… Lyra, I think.” she said with a little smile. It was nice to see somebody else besides the nurses and the doctors.

“Lyra” someone was calling. She was looking outside her window, there were two girls out in the garden. She remembered seeing one of them walking on the hallways the day after she woke up, though it was the first time she saw someone outside. It’s been only a couple of days after that and she hasn’t seen or talk with many people, just nurses and the doctors.“Lyra” a man called her again.
Lyra. She figured that was her name because everyone called her like that, though she wouldn’t know. She didn’t know much, if anything at all.
“Can’t you hear I’m calling you?” the man sounded annoyed.“What now, Ryan?” she said turning around. Ryan was one of the nurses. He was almost constantly taking care of her, probably under Doctor Peters orders. “I just need you to sit down and let me check your temperature.”“You shouldn’t.” she replied while walking to her bed, which was just a few steps away. Ryan wasn’t expecting that answer and the expression on his face showed it.“How do you kn-““I heard what the doctor told you.”Ryan stared at her for a few seconds, like thinking in what to say. “If I don’t do it, and if you have an infection-““Infection that you haven’t found.” she interrupted him. She enjoyed doing that.“We haven’t. But if you DO, you could die, alright? Die.” said Ryan in an even more annoyed tone, this girl really knew how to get on his nerves.“I already did.” Lyra said that like if she was proud of it. I already died. I DIED. Yet I’m alive now.Ryan seemed to don’t know what to say, so he went to take the thermometer to the little table next to the bed. “I’m going to check your temperature either way.”“If I let you, could I get out of this boring room for once?” she wanted to wander around, get to know the place she was “living in”, if it could be called like that.“Like, walk in the hallway? Because that’s as far as the other patients can go.” “Yes.. the hallways.” So, we can’t go outside. What about those girls I saw through the window?“Alright. We’ll walk for a bit if you want”“What? No. I mean just by myself.” You don’t have to stay with me all the time. Ryan put the thermometer in her mouth for a minute and when he took it back he quickly touched her face, which to him, was burning. “You have 110° of temperature! Don’t you feel dizzy or nauseous?”“No.” said Lyra in a really calm voice. In fact she was feeling fine, like if she wasn’t sick at all.“I’m giving you medicine and I think you can’t go for that walk after all.”“But Ryan, you said-““And I’m calling Doctor Peters. Just lay down, I’ll be right back with both, the medicine and the Doctor.” said the nurse getting out of the room really quick.Oh great!  -Lyra thought- This fucking fever isn’t ruining my fun. She get up the bed and went to the door. She looked around to see if there was someone, all she saw was Ryan running in direction to the elevator. She quickly started walking the other direction, looking for stairs. There has to be stairs somewhere around here. She opened one of the doors in the hallway, it seemed to be a janitor’s closet so she kept walking and there was two doors more, she saw light coming from behind one of them I don’t think those are the stairs, maybe the other one. Aha! Find you. She found the stairs and quickly started walking them down. It seemed like the garden she could see through her window was just a couple of stories down her floor. So she walked what it seemed two floors and then opened the door back to the hospital. Just like before, she opened the door a little and saw a pair of nurses walking down the hallway then getting into a room, she waited till they closed the door to get into the hospital again. Then she walked to where she thought that garden could be.Guess I might be lost. She thought turning to another hallway. Then she could see a set of doors at the end of that hallway, sunlight was coming from them, it had to be it or it would lead her outside either way. She start running to them, didn’t want the nurses to see her and Ryan and Doctor Peters were probably looking for her by now. The sun. The warmth of the sun.. so comforting.
